Radon Testing in Bishop Georgia
Challenge
Matt H. was under contract to purchase a home in Bishop, Georgia. 14.4% of homes in Oconee County, Georgia have high radon levels and the EPA recommends testing every home during a real estate transfer. Matt's REALTOR knew that and recommended that he order a radon test from his home inspector. His home inspector contacted us because they wanted an NRPP Certified Measurement Provider to do the testing.
Solution
The radon test resulted in an average of 2.3 pCi/L. This is well below the EPA action level of 4.0 pCi/L and also below the World Health Organization action level of 2.7 pCi/L. Mitigation was not needed at this time. We recommended they conduct another test in the future or do a year-long test to measure the actual occupant exposure in the home.
