Radon Testing in Auburn, Georgia

Challenge

Not every radon test leads to a mitigation project. Testing usually happens during real estate transactions or when a media outlet puts out a story about radon. In Gwinnett County Georgia about 30% of homes test high for radon. During a recent test for a homebuyer, we ran a test that had an overall average of 2.6 pCi/L. In our experience, most homebuyers are not going to negotiate a mitigation system if the test comes back below 4.0 pCi/L even though the EPA suggests that homeowners consider reducing their levels if it comes back between 2.0 pCi/L and 4.0 pCi/L.

Solution

The buyers decided to put off consideration of a mitigation system until they were settled in the home. We support their decision and we will be there for them if they decide to reduce their risk of lung cancer by seeking the lowest possible radon test result.
